Personal registration
Since 2017, we have helped thousands of international visitors to the US register vehicles in Montana by forming a Montana Limited Liability Company (LLC) for each one of them.
Based on countless feedback sessions, we've learned that visitor.us customers want to keep things simple.
We're excited to tell you about our individual registration option - which allows you to own a vehicle directly in your own name, rather than through a Montana LLC!
How does personal registration work?
In other words, Montana allows people who own or rent a Montana vacation home to register a vehicle in Montana. These additional vehicle registration fees support Montana schools, roads, and law enforcement.
If you select our individual registration option, visitor.us will lease you a portion of our property in Bozeman, Montana.
This lease, along with two pieces of mail that we send to you at our office, is sufficient to register a vehicle in your name at our office.
How does visitor.us know this works?
During the second half of 2024, we tested the personal registration process extensively, registering vehicles to nearly 100 individual beta testers, all of whom are on the road today.
Does visitor.us charge extra for personal registration?
Nope! Our fee for personal registration is the same as the fee for LLC registration. And because you don’t have an LLC, an Annual Report is not required, saving you $95 per year.
When will visitor.us launch personal registration?
We are busy updating the visitor.us dashboard to reflect the personal registration process.
When the software updates are complete - expected in January 2025 - we’ll launch personal registration to the world.
